FEATURED PROJECTS Soccer World Cup 2010 Civils2000 was responsible for transforming the roadway from Cape Town Station to the new Green Point Stadium from a solely motor vehicle transport system into a pedestrian and cycle friendly access way. The work entailed changing road reserve usage from untended par areas into paved and landscaped areas fit and safe for pedestrians, and cyclists with appropriate greening and maintaining roadways for motor vehicles. Various surfaces were used to demarcate the various use areas. The areas for each user were clearly marked using lines, different coloured paving and bollards. The pedestrian bridge over Buitengracht Street was an integral part of the pedestrian way, allowing pedestrians to uninterruptedly cross this major road. Most of the work to construct the bridge was done after normal work hours to minimise the disruption to normal traffic. |
