The City of Cape Town commissioned the construction of a “Fan Walk” as part of the City’s preparations for the 2010 Soccer World Cup. Construction took place over 2009 and 2010, and was completed well within schedule. The Fan Walk runs through central Cape Town, starting at Adderley Street Station and continuing to Cape Town Stadium in Green Point. The route incorporates the only true suspension bridge in South Africa.
The Fan Walk contributed greatly to the success of the World Cup in Cape Town and has uplifted the Cape Town CBD, leaving a lasting and unique legacy.
